Fallen Angel
Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?
As I tumbled down through stardust
Clutching at absence
At a hand that wasn’t there to catch me
My wings blackened
Burned by fury’s flames
And fell away into nothingness
My eternal glow flickered and died
My eyes, once bright, turned dull
My breath was snatched away on icy winds
And I fell further and further away from home
What I once was became dust
All I knew became lies
No fluffy clouds
No sweet music
No warming light
Just tales of tragedy and woe
Of loneliness and heartbreak
Of people crippled by their sorrows
I fell from legend into life
From white light to a suffocating grey
And on hitting the ground
My heart broke into thousands of tiny pieces
That cut my hands as I tried to stick them back together
Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?
In a way you cannot comprehend
So much, that it transcends the use of words
I’m far from home
Never to return
Even though my broken heart yearns
For the comfort of my Father’s embrace
