Love's Flame

Love is like a candle; it burns out over time.

It starts off a flame that burns so strong

in passionate colours of red and gold.

It burns with reckless abandon

with no heed to the shortening wick.

It doesn't realise it should savour its time,

take it slow.

Right now, it is the brightest thing in the world,

but it will flicker in the winds of time,

growing smaller and smaller

until all that's left is the ashes of a broken heart.
